A dialogue between old and new

Work continues to progress at Building 305 in Fort Worden’s new Makers Square. Reclaimed 100-year-old Douglas Fir, stone walls, and white washed Douglas Fir shiplap create a dialogue between old and new. Throughout its 100-year history as a military base and a variety of other uses, Building 305 has been imprinted by its inhabitants. Remnants of patchwork-colored walls, removed cabinetry, and abandoned stairwells cement the structure in its own history while its imperfections celebrate its raw, original beauty.
