The Loom “Living Building Challenge” house on Bainbridge Island is shaping up for its August debut. Outside, the carport is complete, with final walkway grading and a full-deck rebuild underway. Tree protection and erosion controls have been removed, and new plants are going in all over the grounds. Interior finish work brings the owners’ move-in date ever closer. And those sustainability features: rooftop solar array is already producing power for net-metering savings, while the in-ground water reclamation system will be commissioned in the next few weeks. Loom is a real example for earth-friendly design and construction, restoring an architecturally notable, mid-century classic home in the bargain.
