Our historic rehabilitation of Makers Square at Fort Worden is now complete and we are thrilled to share these photos of the finished space.
Originally constructed in 1901, the fort in Port Townsend has been transformed into a vibrant arts education facility and home to Makers Square, an eight-acre section of the fort envisioned to host art education, gallery shows, studios, and residency programs.
The first building constructed at Fort Worden and the original Quartermasters’ Warehouse, Building 305 was brought up to standard for contemporary use while respecting the rich architectural heritage it represents. A daylit interior, new canopy and bleacher-type loading dock embrace the historic character of the building while preparing it for a wide range of arts programming for the community and visitors. The local Port Townsend radio station KPTZ has also relocated their operation to the ground level of the building.
Thank you to the entire project team for a job well done.
