Clark Construction’s Response to the COVID-19 Crisis

MARCH 24, 2020

Friends of Clark Construction:

We are always thankful for each of you, but there is something about times of uncertainty that amplifies our gratefulness. We hope each of you is staying safe and healthy and able to find peace with staying at home.

More than ever, during this time of social distancing, it is important to know we are connected to one another. To that end, we are committed to communicating with you clearly and often. This letter is intended to outline to you where we are at the current moment and what plans we’ve made to move ahead.

What WE are doing:

  • We have heard Governor Inslee’s order to Stay Home, Stay Healthy. Adhering to this order, our Clark office and all job sites will be closed at the end of the day Wednesday, March 25th for at least the next two weeks. We will wait for the lift of the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order, poised to resume work immediately on its lifting.
  • We remain OPEN and available to all forms of communication and welcome texts, emails and phone calls with any questions, ideas or concerns. Communication at this time is paramount and it is essential that we all are staying connected to each other at this time. All Clark leaders will be actively monitoring all forms of communication throughout the day.
  • Following Stay Home, Stay Healthy order and our own priority of keeping employees, trade partners, clients and community healthy, all Clark leaders will continue working from home. As well, each will be visiting job sites on a DAILY basis to ensure safety of site and equipment. We have kept our business up and running for as long as possible, knowing that by doing so, it is good for the overall economic engine of our nation and we’ll be ready to go once we can reassemble and deploy our teams.
  • We have been and will continue to follow all directions given by health and government leaders. We are committed to posting weekly updates both through emails and our social media channels: Facebook and Linkedin
  • While we are not advisors and cannot give legal or business advice, we are happy to share our experiences and ideas for moving forward.
  • We have set company goals of remaining Nimble, Flexible, Positive and Proactive during these uncertain times knowing that will help us stay emotionally healthy as well.
  • We are all taking full advantage of this forced time away from working – spending additional time with our families, staying physically and mentally strong, resting and rejuvenating, so that when we do return to work, we will be strong, healthy and energized, ready to hit the ground running.

What YOU can do:

  • Communicate openly and often with us regarding any questions, ideas or concerns you have.
  • Rest assured that we’re committed to doing our part to minimize the impact of these changes; financially, physically, socially and emotionally to all involved.
  • If you are not already connected to Clark Construction through our social media channels, now would be a great time to follow us on Instagram, Linkedin and Facebook or subscribe to our newsletter interest list for regular update.
  • Trade Partners & Clients, please know that by getting invoices submitted quickly and paying bills promptly you will be doing your part in making this difficult time as manageable as possible.

We are in this together and I have been encouraged by how our partnerships with you, our building community, our trade partners and clients, feel like just that, true partnerships with each doing their part in this time of uncertainty. Many of you have already proactively reached out and made necessary adjustments. Thank you for that.

We’ll keep moving forward.

Stay healthy and safe!

MARCH 17, 2020

We at Clark Construction are closely monitoring COVID-19 developments and understand the significant impact this is having on our community, nation and abroad. Our deepest sympathy to those adversely affected by this crisis whether it be health or hardship. We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to all– healthcare workers, first responders, scientists and others who have been working tirelessly to find solutions to and care for those directly affected by this virus.

As always, the health and well-being of our team, trade partners, owners and our wider community are our priorities and we’re taking steps to ensure this is happening. To that end, we are following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), federal, state and local agencies and other global health organizations to stay up-to-date and ensure the actions we’re taking are comprehensive and appropriate. We have asked all employees able to work from home to do so.  Any employees that are sick or feeling unsafe at work have been asked to stay home. In addition, the majority of our meetings are being done virtually. During this time of modified operations, our offices will remain open for business, but are closed to outside visitors for at least the next two weeks.  Meanwhile, our teams working on sites and in client’s homes are being extra diligent in the sanitation of the spaces in which they work. In these uncertain times, our goal is to be as non-disruptive as possible to our clients, while promoting the health and safety of all our employees and community.

We are in constant contact with our trade partners and suppliers, supporting them and working to stay ahead of this crisis. While there have been a few minor supply chain hiccups, our construction industry is fortunate in that many of our products and materials are locally manufactured and made in more remote areas. So far, this has insulated us from many of the supply chain challenges other industries are facing.

We continue to sponsor The Island Volunteer Caregivers, who courageously and diligently support some of our island’s most vulnerable and encourage you to reach out to them and others like Helpline House, Bainbridge Prepares and our Senior Center who are all operating on the front lines at this time. As well, if you know of any community-wide efforts being done to stop the spread of this virus or to support one another, please let us know as we are ready to do our part!

Though we are complying with the social -distancing guidelines, we are staying engaged electronically. Please stay connected and in virtual communication with us until we’re able to meet once again, in person.

Stay healthy and safe!
