Clark Construction spent this summer renovating Bainbridge Youth Services new facility, formerly known as The Little Red School House. Located across the parking lot from the Aquatic Center, the new, 2,100-square-foot building allows BYS to expand its free programs for teens ages 12 to 21, offering free counseling, free tutoring and other programs that benefit young people in our community. Most of the furnishings – new tables, chairs and couches – have all been donated. Student focus groups were held during the planning processes to ensure a teen-friendly and positive space.
“Student input guided this project from the beginning to ensure it is warm and welcoming,” says BYS Executive Director Cezanne Allen. “We wanted to incorporate everyone’s ideas and provide an inviting, safe space for youth. This new space allows BYS to grow our programs and build a strong sense of connection with the young people we serve.”
As an annual corporate sponsor of BYS, Clark Construction was honored to have the opportunity to work on this project and help create a new and improved space that will support such an important island organization.
A community open house is to be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
