Renovation of Historic Buildings at Fort Worden

Clark Construction is honored to be the contractor restoring the National Registered Historic Quartermaster Building at Fort Worden in Port Townsend, Wash. We are transforming this beautiful, 1914-vintage Army storehouse into a vibrant Arts & Education Center in the heart of the Fort Worden campus. Working with Signal Architects of Seattle, we’ll bring the building up to standard for contemporary use while respecting the rich architectural heritage it represents – and we’re aiming for LEED Silver certification. Classrooms and studios will range from utilitarian and coarse, for material-intensive programming, through gallery and exhibit education and presentation. A daylit interior, new canopy and bleacher-type loading dock will embrace the historic character of the building while preparing it for a wide range of arts programming for the community and visitors. The local Port Townsend radio station KPTZ also plans to relocate their operation to the ground level of the building.

Buildings 308 and 324, nearby on the Fort Worden campus, will also be upgraded to provide durable, private artist studios. Extensive utility upgrades will be made around the grounds. More on the project coming soon.
