The Clark team recently visited our newest complet

The Clark team recently visited our newest completed project - the extension of the historic Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial. The construction of a cantilevered deck that representing the original departure dock evokes the experience of the many Japanese Americans who were forced from their homes during World War II. At this same location 79 years ago these families left their homes behind and boarded a ferry bound for a concentration camp existence for the duration of the war. While working on this special project Clark felt it was important to further support BIJAC and their efforts in expanding their memorial by donating some building materials and labor to the effort. Loom House has achieved LBC 4.0 Certification, officially making it one of the most sustainable houses on earth. Located on a beautifully landscaped bluff overlooking Puget Sound, Loom House is an extensive renovation of a classic 1960s northwest-style home on Bainbridge Island, Washington.

Along with its sweeping views and spectacular landscapes, Loom House is one of only four residences in the world to achieve full LBC Certification, and is the first renovated project to do so. Thank you to our incredible team, clients, and partners for making this achievement possible.

Within the next four weeks siding will be complete on the first two homes, the third home will have a roof, and framing will be underway on the final home.

Clark Construction Founder and CEO, Rachele Turnbull, was recently invited to join Oregon State’s College of Engineering Center for Diversity & Inclusion and Women in Civil & Construction Engineering for their second instalment of the Leadership Webinar Series: Identifying and attaining skill sets to reach our career goals. Rachele spoke on how individuals can better identify skill sets they have and how those might be translated into future jobs. She encouraged students to explore how they can bring down barriers that exist particularly for women and women of color, in the pursuit of leadership positions.
