🚧✨ Exciting News from North Kitsap Service Ce

🚧✨ Exciting News from North Kitsap Service Center!

Over the past week, our team completed a major project milestone. We partnered with Precision Concrete and Barnhardt Crane to complete a wall tilt, in which 50 tilt-up wall panels (each panel is about 20-30 sqft weighing 10-40 tons!) were lifted into place via crane.

In the weeks leading up to the wall tilt, casting beds were placed to serve as the substrate upon which all the panels were originally poured. They were all about 4” thick, unreinforced, and will be torn up and recycled now that the tilt is complete. We had about 35,000 sqft, or 400+ cy, of casting beds!

The crawler crane worked its way around each building, carefully breaking the panels loose from the casting beds, tilting them vertical and setting them in keyways along the footings. The heaviest panel was about 70k lbs! The panels were braced, with braces anchored into the interior slab. Now, onto steel work and welding the panels together.

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a

September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, promote prevention, and unite in support of mental health. Last week, we had the honor of hosting a company wide Lunch & Learn with a representative from the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention.

We discussed construction specific risk factors for suicide, recognizing the signs that someone may be struggling, and the importance of addressing mental health in the workplace. A huge thank you to our leadership and HR teams for prioritizing open conversations about mental health and making this a central focus. It’s important to acknowledge that mental health IS a workplace concern, and together we can make a difference.

So please - check on your people, give yourself grace and watch for signs someone is struggling. Let’s keep this conversation going all year round, not just in September.

Today we are celebrating one of our summer interns, Ajinkya, on his last day with us before heading back to the University of Washington to finish his master’s degree in Construction Management! Ajinkya has been working with our project team on the Warrior Ridge Supportive Housing Project (a collaboration with the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe), and has brought a can-do attitude to each and every day.
