Respite Care Center

This renovation project will be underway soon at 810 6th Street in downtown Bremerton, Washington, where an existing 14,476 square foot concrete structure is being transformed. The aim of this project is to establish respite care facilities along with support spaces for a small medical clinic, training rooms, and staff offices. This initiative is led by Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS), a federally qualified health center catering to over 38,000 patients annually across Kitsap, Mason, and rural Pierce Counties. PCHS offers a wide range of services including medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and enabling services, reaching patients through various channels such as traditional clinics, mobile clinics, school-based health clinics, and outreach events.

The Peninsula Community Health Services’ Medical Respite Center is designed to accommodate 22 individual rooms along with an onsite clinic. Its primary focus is on serving individuals recently discharged from the hospital, as well as those who require early medical intervention to prevent hospitalization. Patients at the center will benefit from round-the-clock support provided by PCHS providers and support staff for up to 30 days. Each patient will receive personalized attention aimed at developing an individual exit plan, facilitating a safe transition for those experiencing homelessness to a more stable environment.
